Line Dancing 101

Facilitator: Margaret Moulton

Date: Thursday, May 17 & 24, 2012

Time: 11:30-12:00 (Lunch)

          12:00-1:00 (Line Dancing)

Location: SSC 2333

You have seen them doing it at weddings, family parties, maybe even at bars. It looks like fun, but you're a little too timid to try. Here is your chance to try it, completely uninhibited. We start out with "baby dances" to build those links between our brain and our two left feet, to train our muscle memory, to tax our mental memory, to build our confidence, and to increase our giggle quotient. Line Dancing is a lot of fun; it is a great gentle exercise, requires no extra clothing, just a pair of basic flat-ish shoes and the ability to count to 8. One thing you may not know is that, while Line Dancing's humble beginnings started with Country Music, today it has evolved to include most genres of music, such as Cha Cha, Fox Trot, Tango, Waltz, East & West Coast Swing and Night Club 2-Step. After these two sessions, you will know basic steps and will be able to decipher beginner dances on the dance floor, so then you too will be able to Strut Your Stuff!

Margaret Moulton, BWDA has taught line dancing for the last 17 years, here for the last 12 and in the UK for the first 5. She has taught adults, students, seniors, children, mentally challenged, as well as men. Her passion and high energy has her teaching her own evening classes 3 nights a week, teaching part-time for the City of London, and still being fully committed to her position as a financial assistant in the department of Earth Science. Having no dance or music background, she trained in the UK to gain her instructor's certificate, and then surged into setting up her own classes. Her vivacious nature makes you feel right at home, and her patience is never-ending when it comes to explaining and demonstrating the steps and techniques.

A light luncheon will be available at both sessions. Lunch on May 17 will consist of assorted sandwiches (including vegetarian), cold drinks, & dessert squares.

No special orders please.

RSVP for the first session with YEEHAW!! in the subject line by MONDAY, MAY 14 at 4:00 PM.
